Saturday’s Pool Party
As general manager here at The Clubs at Charles River Park, I’ve learned a great deal. Perhaps the toughest lesson has come from the events that took place last Saturday, July 21st.
Many of you have sent us valuable feedback, both good and bad, and we thank you for this. We offer our sincere apology to anyone whose day was negatively affected by Saturday’s pool party. With the help of MGH Police & Security, we are investigating the many reports we have received.
As you can understand, some of the issues that occurred on Saturday were not planned nor anticipated and our staff took appropriate action. As with any non-member guest, the party guests signed into the health club on Saturday. MGH Police and Security made several stops during the day and judged the party and guests were under control. Later in the evening, when it was clear that guests were in violation of the rules of the health club, we ended the event sooner than scheduled.
Moving forward, we plan to limit the following:
- The amount of space rented
- The duration of an event
- The number of guests attending
In addition, we also plan to implement regulations with regard to music and sound systems. These measures will help us better serve our members as well as guests of our facility. We are having an independent review of the events of last Saturday and will make any additional changes that the reviewers recommend.
Last week we finalized plans for two outdoor Zumba® classes in August as well as a member appreciation BBQ. We planned this event as a token of our member appreciation. Today it seems more meaningful than ever. We value our members greatly.
I told my staff that, from mistakes we learn the greatest lessons.
“A man of genius makes no mistakes. His errors are volitional and are the portals of discovery.”
