PurMotion Cyclone 100: Vertical Rope Pull

Playing … just the word makes you feel like a kid! People ask me about our recent change from machines to more functional training and, while there are several reasons for this my first answer is, “shouldn’t working out be fun?”  We’re at work all day – shouldn’t we get some play time too?

And not only will workouts be more fun, but faster and more efficient as well!

Today I’m going to show you how to do a vertical pull using the PurMotion FTS 200.  But before we get into that, I can’t help myself… the crane brings to mind that famous Karate Kid scene where Ralph Macchio puts the crane technique to use, take a look!

Anyway, in this advanced move, you’ll harness yourself into the sling by wrapping the anchor around the rope and attach carabiner to end. Then attach harness to carabiner and tighten it until it locks in place (see the beginning of the video for complete set-up).

While in this seated position, grab the opposite side of the rope and while maintaining balanced tension with your upper and lower body pull upwards placing one hand above the other.  Then SLOWLY work your way back down to the starting position.  Remember to keep your core engaged.

Tip: Start by practicing and doing short vertical pulls up and down. Then, when you feel comfortable try to lift yourself up on the crane for 2-3 pulls up and down. Once you’ve mastered this, then try pulling yourself to the top.

Questions?  I’d love to hear from you.  Or, try one of my Indoor Boot Camp classes on the PurMotion system.  They take place Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 6:30am – 7:30am.

Have fun!
