Reality Check Your Workout
After the holidays, CCRP starts to see an influx of new members and members we haven’t seen in a while but by February and March, things die down. Why not start out trying this realistic approach to a fitness routine and perhaps you can maintain your regimen for the year vs. a few months!
Master the Basics
- Don’t drink your calories
- Eat more fruits and veggies
- Stick to whole food as much as possible
- Eat some protein with every feeding
- Exercise vigorously as often as you can
- Move as frequently as you can
- Get plenty of sleep and recover
Manage Your Expectations
It’s cliché, but the phrase ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’ is completely relevant. Don’t start an exercise program or nutrition plan expecting infomercial results. Good nutrition and exercise are lifelong habits, not short term quick fixes. You will experience periods of tremendous progress, but they won’t be predictably consistent.
Remember that this isn’t all about body composition and weight. Good nutrition and regular exercise is primarily about your health and well being. Body composition change is just a nice side effect!
Cut Yourself Some Slack (…but not too much!)
You will hit points in your life where you’ll backslide or feel unmotivated. This happens to virtually ALL of us. Recognize and acknowledge your obstacles, then come up with a strategy to overcome them and implement it.
